മലബാര്‍ കാന്‍സര്‍ സൊസൈറ്റിക്ക് ഇരുപത്തഞ്ചിന കര്‍മപദ്ധതി

കര്‍മരംഗത്ത് 25 വര്‍ഷം പൂര്‍ത്തിയാക്കിയ മലബാര്‍ കാന്‍സര്‍ കെയര്‍ സൊസൈറ്റി കാന്‍സര്‍ നിയന്ത്രണത്തിനായി 25-ഇന പദ്ധതി തയ്യാറാക്കി.

ഉത്തരമലബാറിലെ സാധാരണക്കാരായ ഗ്രാമവാസികള്‍ക്കുവേണ്ടി കാന്‍സര്‍ പ്രതിരോധത്തിലും രോഗം നേരത്തേ കണ്ടുപിടിക്കുന്നതിനുമുള്ള ബോധവത്കരണത്തിലുമൂന്നിയാണ് പരിപാടി തയ്യാറാക്കിയിട്ടുള്ളത് .

കാന്‍സറിനെ അറിയാന്‍, അറിയിക്കാന്‍, കണ്ടെത്താന്‍, കീഴ്‌പ്പെടുത്താന്‍ എന്ന മുദ്രാവാക്യവുമായി സപ്തംബര്‍ മുതല്‍ 2015 ആഗസ്ത്് വരെയാണ് പരിപാടി നടപ്പാക്കുക.

ഡോക്ടര്‍മാര്‍ക്ക് തുടര്‍വിദ്യാഭ്യാസപരിപാടി, 50 വിദ്യാലയങ്ങളില്‍ ജീവിതശൈലീരോഗ നിര്‍ണയ ക്ലിനിക്, സൗജന്യ ഡയാലിസിസ്, സൗജന്യ ആയുര്‍വേദ ഒ.പി. ക്ലിനിക്, ജയില്‍ അന്തേവാസികള്‍ക്കും മറുനാടന്‍ തൊഴിലാളികള്‍ക്കും പുകവലിവിരുദ്ധ ക്ലിനിക്, വിവിധ അവയവങ്ങളെ ബാധിക്കുന്ന കാന്‍സറുകളെ നിയന്ത്രിക്കാന്‍ പ്രത്യേക മാസാചരണപരിപാടികളും ക്യാമ്പുകളും കാന്‍സര്‍രോഗവിമുക്തര്‍ക്ക് പ്രതിമാസ യോഗ ക്ലാസ് തുടങ്ങിയവ 25-ഇന പരിപാടികളില്‍പ്പെടും.

GOVERNMENT COMMITTED TO REFORMS


Rejecting criticism that UPA is not serious on reforms, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee today said it is now time for the government to take some hard decisions and expressed confidence that three key legislations on pension, banking and insurance will be passed this year.

Speaking at a Washington-based think-tank, he said government is committed to economic reforms and has in fact has initiated the process of legislative and administrative changes on a number of issues that would benefit the economy.

"We are now at a juncture when it is inevitable to take some hard decisions. And this has been our approach, as I outlined in the proposals for the Union Budget 2012-13 recently

 So far the direct taxes are concerned I am quite confident that it would be implemented after the laws being passed by the next session of the Parliament from next financial year. On tax reforms, direct tax would be operationalized from the next financial year," Mukherjee said.

"In respect of indirect taxes the most important decision to be taken to implement the GST constitutional amendment that may be possible within this calendar year," he said in response to a question.

Earlier in his opening remarks, Mukherjee said the Indian economy is, in some ways, better placed than many other nations to withstand this fresh round of global economic turmoil.

At the Piravom assembly constituency, the UDF spearheaded by the Congress and CPM-led LDF are locked in a fierce battle. LDF candidate, M.J. Jacob, who was among the early voters, said he had to wait for nearly an hour at one of the booths to exercise his franchise. He said he was confident of winning with a vast majority considering the huge turnout.

Anoop Jacob is the UDF candidate while the BJP candidate is K.R. Rajagoapal.

Women were among the early voters in the constituency with a 1.83 lakh electorate.

Government has declared a public holiday for all Government, quasi-Government and educational institutions in the constituency in view of the polling.

Both LDF and UDF had launched a spirited campaign to woo the voters.

The bypoll was necessitated following the death of former minister, T.M. Jacob, father of Anoop Jacob

France to sign nuclear deal
Even as the India-U.S. nuclear deal is making its passage in the U.S. Congress, French President Nicolas Sarkozy on Sunday made clear his country’s intention to forge ahead with the civil nuclear cooperation with India. This will be sealed in an agreement he is signing with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in Paris on Tuesday.
France, the world’s leading country in nuclear power which produces 80 per cent of electricity from atomic energy, is ready to offer its latest EPR technology under the agreement.
In an e-mail interview to PTI ahead of his talks with Dr. Singh, Mr. Sarkozy said the prospects of cooperation between France and India in the civil nuclear field are “very promising.” — PTI

Over 600 Dweep passengers stranded
KOCHI: Over 600 passengers bound to Androth, Kalpeni and Minicoy islands in Lakshadweep were stranded in the city as the Dweep authorities cancelled the Thursday’s service of m.v. Minicoy to these islands. The next service to these islands is expected on September 25
